There are four occasions when everyone is a Christian – Christmas, Easter, weddings and funerals. Unfortunately, going to church on Christmas or Easter does not make someone a Christian. Neither does getting married in a church.
There is only one way to be a Christian and that is through Jesus.
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) We want so badly to believe that our good deeds erase the bad ones but they don’t. That is why Jesus went to the Cross.
Do you believe Jesus went to the Cross for your sins?
If anyone confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord and believes God rose Him from the dead, they shall be saved. (Romans 10:9)
The word Lord literally means owner. Do you believe Jesus is Lord and owner of your life?
Do you believe that God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, rose Jesus from the dead?
Have you asked God – in your own words – to take over your life?
It doesn’t have to be worded a certain way. The bigger question is, do you believe it with your heart? Do you mean it? On New Year’s Eve, 1996, I got on my knees and said, “Jesus, if You exist, please take over my life.” And He did. And He is amazing and good and loving and the best thing that’s ever happened to me and I am hopelessly and totally in love with Him.
