We are told in Psalms that when we trust Him, He will give us the desires of our heart. It has been my life experience that this verse has a double meaning. First, He will change our heart so that our desires match His. Then He will fulfill those desires. Bring Him in from the beginning and your wedding and marriage will be blessed.

From a financial perspective, you will not go over budget. When God writes His desires for your wedding on your heart, He will also provide the finances to make that wedding a reality. My husband and I had limited finances. Our budget was less than $3,000. Yet God provided everything we needed – including a week long honeymoon. Neither one of us has any regrets about our wedding. It was perfect. We were satisfied and content. Your budget may be considerably higher or lower than ours. The actual dollar amount spent on your wedding isn’t important. That your wedding satisfy both you and your husband is. In Timothy, we are told that contentment with godliness is great gain. Again, bring Him in from the beginning and your wedding and marriage will be blessed.

From the perspective of unity with your future husband, you will have that IF you both prayerfully ask God to show you His plans for your wedding. He will write that desire on both of your hearts and you will have peace. This, by the way, is the secret to peace in your marriage as well. As you both surrender your desires to Him, He will mold those desires into His one desire for your lives and you will walk as one. Total surrender yields amazing fruit.

From the perspective of the wedding planning process itself, you will be amazed at how easily your wedding falls into place. There is very little stress when God Himself has written the script. If your wedding planning is stressful or dividing you and your future husband, step back and pray. Let go of your desires and find out His. I promise you will not regret it.
